The Transtec Group provides specialty testing services that deliver to clients a better understanding of the structural and functional characteristics of their pavement.

In this role:

  • Be part of the Transtec field data collection team, ensuring accurate and valid data collection.
  • Travel nationwide, often driving cross-country with test equipment.
  • Conduct pavement-related tests independently or with team members.
  • Work unconventional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Operate in diverse weather conditions, primarily outdoors or in vehicles.

Field Tests Include:

  • Falling weight deflectometer (FWD)
  • Pavement friction
  • Pavement surface texture
  • Pavement smoothness profiles

When not in the field:

  • Diagnose, repair, verify, and maintain equipment using available resources.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and cleaning.
  • Replenish consumables and organize supplies.

Requirements

  • Field Testing:
    • Read and follow test procedures rigorously.
    • Travel frequently, including international travel (90% travel).
    • Drive long distances safely, have the ability to drive a full-size pickup while pulling a trailer.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams.
    • Diagnose and repair electrical issues.
  • Physical Ability:
    • Lift up to 90 lbs.
    • Work on hands and knees when necessary.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Basic computer skills for operating equipment and preparing reports.
    • Mechanical, electrical, and organizational skills.
    • Effective communicator with managers and clients.
    • Safety-conscious, especially in traffic and construction environments.
